Safety Tips


Personal:
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • There is safety in numbers
  • Avoid inherently dangerous situations
  • Always keep ID on your person
  • Keep extra medication on hand
  • Wash your hands regularly

Home:
  • Keep a cellphone by your bed
  • Lock your doors and windows
  • Have a carbon monoxide detector
  • Regularly check your smoke detectors
  • Remove tripping hazards
  • Keep fire extinguishers on hand
  • Keep important numbers by the phone
  • Have an emergency plan
  • Secure guns away from children
  • Secure medications away from children

Driving:
  • Make sure your vehicle is in good condition
  • Check your tire pressure regularly
  • Slow down and drive defensively
  • Don't underestimate the weather
  • Have an emergency kit
  • Avoid distractions
  • Don't text while driving
  • Don't drink and drive
  • Don't drive drowsy


Travel:
  • Always let someone know where you are going
  • Always carry ID
  • Always lock your hotel room
  • Have a backup plan

Public Safety


The Alpine Police Department is committed to encouraging and promoting publc safety through education.

As a public service the Alpine Police Department, on an as needed basis, teaches or facilitates classes on public and business safety to include:
  • Robbery Prevention
  • Hunter Safety
  • Fraud Prevention
  • Bicycle Safety
  • DWUI Prevention
  • Home and Business Security
  • Personal Protection



The Alpine Police Department participates in local, state, and national safety campaigns including:
  • The Eddie Eagle Program
  • Child Protection Teams (CPT)
  • Local Emergency Planning Council (LEPC)
  • Project CHILDSAFE
  • Wyoming Highway Safety Grant Program
  • The Wyoming Alert Response Network (WARN)
  • The Star Valley Health Care Coalition



The Alpine Police Department also partners with other local, state, and federal agencies to assist in its mission of promoting public safety.  Some of these partnerships include:
