Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I get an officer to contact me?

A: There are several ways to contact the Alpine Police Department depending upon how fast you need assistance:
  • If you have an EMERGENCY dial 911
  • If you need immediate assistance that does not constitute an EMERGENCY you can request an officer through the Lincoln County Dispatch: 307-885-5231
  • If you'd like to speak with an officer but don't need an immediate response you can leave a message at our office: 307-654-7455
  • Our fax number is: 307-654-7456
  • Our main email address is alpinepd@silverstar.com
Q: What are the town regulations regarding snowmobiles and recreational vehicles such as 4-wheelers (ORV)?

A:  Alpine is a beautiful town nestled in the north end of Star Valley.  Surrounded on all sides by USFS, BLM and BOR land, the Town of Alpine is a recreator's paradise.  The town welcomes snowmobile and ORV operators to ride freely through the town as long as they meet the following criteria:
  • Be a licensed driver over the age of 16 or in the immediate company of a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
  • Have a current Wyoming ORV or snowmobile sticker.
  • Wear a helmet, if under age 18.
  • Obey all traffic laws including, but not limited to, speed limits, right of way rules, stop and yield signs, parking laws, etc.
  • Do NOT drink and operate a snowmobile or ORV within town limits, or you may be charged with DWUI.
Please be considerate, respectful, and obey the law; operating a snowmobile or ORV in the town  is a priviledge that can be lost if people do not treat it as such.  You wouldn't want snowmobiles and ORVs racing by your house and puting your family at risk and disturbing your peace; so please treat our home like you'd want us to treat yours.  Because if too many people cause too many problems, the locals will complain and the town council will act to restrict or eliminate this priviledge.  Please be careful, have fun, and obey the law.
Q: I got a speeding ticket in Alpine, how do I fight it?

A: Questions regarding court dates and court procedures should be addressed to the appropriate court.  To determine which court you need: look near the bottom of your citation, just above the signature box, where it says "I hereby promise to appear in..."; the circled court is the court you need to contact with your questions.  Phone numbers for the courts can be found in the left margin of this page
Q: Is the Alpine Police Department currently accepting applications for any job openings?
